New coal trucks brighten up the Friendliest Port
A series of flower beds have been created to commemorate Amble’s history as a coal port. Five mini coal truck flower beds have been commissioned by Amble Town Council and are being situated around the town.
The prison metalwork department designed the trucks and their horticultural department grew the plants.as part of their work in the community.
Amble Town Council paid for the installation of some trucks and will maintain and replant three of them. HMP Northumberland donated them as part of a community partnership.
Look out for the jubilee planter on Rotary Way, one in Leazes Street near the site of the old railway line to the docks, one outside JCSC and one at the entrance to the town from Hauxley, which has been donated to Park Leisure who will plant and maintain it.
