Opportunity for young people in North Northumberland

Seahouses Youth Project in partnership with the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership is offering  an exciting opportunity for young people in North Northumberland.  We are holding an open day with taster activities for  young people between the ages of 13 and 20, with an interest in the environment, outdoors and the coast, we are hoping to recruit 14 participants to take part in a year-long young ranger’s scheme.

The scheme will involve ten ranger activity days, five in the autumn, and five next spring, with the possibility of a residential weekend. Activity days will include practical countryside care skills as well as exploration of our wonderful natural and cultural heritage.

Participants will be involved in shaping the course of their activities, and will help provide feedback to the AONB Partnership on how to continue to involve young people in the care and understanding of our superb coastal landscape.

The scheme is free with packed lunches provided; participants completing the scheme will also be accredited through the John Muir Trust’s Environmental Awards. The scheme is open to young people living in or near the project area, which is the coastal plain between Berwick and Amble.

For young people wanting to make a difference, this is the scheme for them!

The project is supported by the Big Lottery Fund, Greggs Foundation and The Community Foundation.

Young people interested in coming to the open day or who would like more information about the young rangers scheme please contact:
