Library facilities move to TIC
Building work to begin at Amble Library
Exciting work to improve the Amble Library and Customer Information building in Middleton Street will begin on Wednesday 9th January 2013 and is expected to last until early March 2013.
Building work at Amble Library means that services will be moved to Amble Tourist Information Centre
During this time the existing service will relocate to the Tourist Information Centre on Queen Street and will be open for business as usual from Friday 11th January 2013. The opening hours will remain the same at:
Mon: 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 7pm
Wed: 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 7pm
Fri: 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm
Sat: 9.30am to 12.30pm
Customers will also be able to renew items by visiting www.mylibrary.co.uk or by ringing 01670 50 50 16.
A range of improvements will be made to both the exterior and interior of the building to enhance the customer and community experience of the service.
This will include essential repairs to the windows and roof, the main space will also be decorated with new lighting and floor coverings.
The layout of the library will be improved by the installation of new electronic doors at the entrance which will make the foyer more welcoming and fully accessible for wheelchair entry.
A new self-service system will also be introduced, providing a quick and easy way for customers to issue and return their own library books. A new private meeting room will also be added so that our customers and partner services have some privacy for enquiries of a confidential nature.
When the building re-opens in early March 2013 the service provision will be extended to include the Registrars Service which will relocate from its current location on Queen Street.
Councillor Neil Bradbury, Executive Member for Customer Relations and Culture at Northumberland County Council, said: “Northumberland County Council’s vision to transform the way council services are provided around the county is coming to fruition.
“It is our aim to provide a first class service to customers, first time and every time. This exciting new scheme, which will see council and community services provided under one roof to make them more accessible, will provide real positive improvements for residents.”
For the duration of the building works customers of partner organisations will still be able to access their services via the following drop-in surgeries:

Sessions will be held on the first Thursday of February, March and April 2013 from 1.30 – 3.30 pm at Amble Health Centre, Percy Drive.

- Social Care and Health Information Point (SCHIP)
From January – March 2013 customers can access their nearest Social Care and Health Information Point located in Berwick, Cramlington, Haltwhilstle and Morpeth libraries. They can book an appointment or call 01670 536 400 for further advice.
