Dynamic duo do it again
Two enterprising Amble businesses have scooped prizes for the second year running at a prestigious awards ceremony celebrating the best of Northumberland’s businesses. Bruce Durham of Premier Corporate Training won Entrepreneur of the Year, while Mark Jones won Best Business Start-up for The Wellwood at the Northumberland Business Awards 2011. Amble dominated the shortlists, with six of our businesses represented in the ten categories. Three of the four individuals shortlisted in the Entrepreneur of the year category are based in Amble.
A spokeswoman for the event said “The Northumberland Business Awards were the biggest and best awards yet, with more entries than ever and an actual “sell out” on the night, It was particularly encouraging to see the high level of small businesses coming through, as these are indeed key to Northumberland’s economic growth.”
Mark Jones told The Ambler “It was great, I’m really happy. It means a lot. All the hard work over the last year has paid off. It was a risk setting up, but credit to the people of Amble for supporting us.”
Bruce Durham said “It was good to see so many many businesses in Amble shortlisted. Out of four places, three were taken from entrepreneurs from Amble. And it was especially great to win that category.”
The awards, which are now in their fourth year, were organised by Northeast Press and sponsored by NBSL (Northumberland Business Services Ltd).
