Blyth Spartans Greens: 0, FC Amble U10s: 9
FC Amble produced yet another accomplished display on a very cold and wet morning. Once again, they started quickly and were only denied in the second minute when J Ford struck the post. They only had to wait until the third min to break the deadlock with a trademark solo goal from D Handyside who tied the defence in knots before finishing well (1-0).
They continued to press and went 2-0 up from a J Ford corner which D Handyside finished with a rasping shot into the far corner. D Handyside then completed his hat trick in the 15th min with another good run and finish (3-0).Blyth then nearly stunned FC Amble when their midfielder hit a high looping shot from 30 yards which landed on the crossbar, at which point T Hall assured the manager that he had it covered.
FC Amble then extended their lead to 4-0 just before the interval when D Ramshaw went in bravely with the keeper and nipped in to slot the ball home.
Not resting on their laurels, and having a few inspirational words from manager Barry Paton, Amble came out fired up and scored a fifth straight after half time when D Handyside fired over a cross from the right flank which deceived the keeper and floated in to the far corner (5-0).
R Paton then fired in a free kick which was met by the head of D Handyside only to see it rebound off the post. R Paton then saw a chance of his own also denied by the post as Amble pinned back the hosts. This did not deter the seasiders and they extended the lead from another J Ford corner which was converted by D Armstrong at the back post (60).
D Ramshaw then added to his tally when he bravely blocked a clearance and finished in style when the ball sailed clean through to the goal (7-0). B Handyside then pushed up on to the wing and scored Amble’s eighth goal of the game after striking an unstoppable strike from outside the area that almost took the net off (8-0) . J Ford then got himself on the score sheet with almost the last kick of the game when he despatched a free kick in to the net with a sweet left foot strike (9-0).
Although the strikers once again take the plaudits it was once again a clean sheet for the defence of T Hall, M Kerr, R Paton and B Handyside who have been outstanding all season providing a solid base for the rest of the team .
