This year’s lifeboat day was opened by the mayor of Amble, Councillor Leslie Bilboe. Tesco staff donated prizes for a fun tombola raising more than £420.

Gail Bryson, team leader at Tesco Amble, said: “In a town like Amble, everyone sees the benefit in supporting the RNLI.
“Tesco has supported the Amble lifeboat day for a number of years – we are very proud to be able to help a charity that is so close to the hearts of local people.”

The day included a lifeboat exercise along with a Sea-king helicopter from RAF Boulmer demonstrating the speed and abilities of the volunteer crew based at Amble.

The family fun day also included a children’s tombola, souvenir stalls, live music as well as a fun fair – all helping to raise £5,000 for the RNLI.
