One year on: A minister says thank you
Well, Amble you really are ‘the friendliest port’ – judging by the welcome that I have had in the twelve months since my Ordination as URC Minister in pastoral charge at St Mark’s, Wellwood Street.
URC church members and other friends of Coquet Churches Together, as well as numerous well-wishers from the Amble community have continued their great support in a fantastic first year of ministry. How blessed I have felt amongst you all – THANK YOU for your warm and generous words of friendship and encouragement, both in the churches and on the street.
A teacher at Ponteland High School by day and a resident (for over twenty years) in Morpeth, the very nature of Non Stipendry Ministry means that time for relationship building ‘in situ’ is limited – Amble residents have not allowed that to be a problem – be it in St Mark’s, at church meetings, on Walks of Witness, community events or in your own homes (arranging baptisms, weddings or sharing a cuppa) I have felt welcomed beyond measure. I hope that these friendly encounters may continue and that there may be more of them in my next twelve months of ministry. I feel well and truly welcomed to Amble and hope that I will be given time to work with and for the members of this engaging community. Thank-you ALL!
