Green first for JCSC

Posted on 12th August 2011 | in Community , James Calvert Spence College - Acklington Rd , News

The High School has made initial moves to be the first ‘green’ school in the county. The town’s James Calvert Spence College has been given £23,506 towards the cost of a 10kW wind turbine.

The aim of the project is to provide 15% of the college’s energy and help towards their aim of being the first carbon neutral school in Northumberland. The EDF Energy Green Fund awards up to £30,000 for organisations to generate green energy in their own communities.

The college told The Ambler it did not want to comment until the project was further advanced.

Why are they bothering with just one wind turbine? That place generates enough hot air to power the entire town!

So they will be OK if the winds don’t blow!
