Banking hub promised for Amble after closure of TSB announced
The announcement by TSB that they are to close their Amble branch in May 2025 was met with disappointment and anger by residents, concerned at the further loss of financial services in the town. Amble’s only remaining bank was one of a list of 36 TSB branches to close throughout the country, alongside hundreds of job losses.
The day after the announcement, local MP Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan confirmed that a banking hub will be set up in the town, enabling customers of a number of banks to access services.
Banking hubs, like the one announced for Alnwick are run from Post Offices, open from 9-5 during the week, with a private room. According to Cash Access UK, community bankers are usually provided by the banks with the most customers in the local area.
Anne-Marie said: “I’m pleased to see a banking hub announced for Amble, following the disappointing news that TSB have taken a decision to close their Amble branch next year. Having recently brought LINK and Cash Access UK to Parliament to discuss the banking hub coming down the road in Alnwick – and ask them your questions – I wanted to reiterate the principles of banking hubs to reassure you.
“These include: a location on a high street as central and accessible as possible; whoever you bank with, you’ll be able to drop in 9-5 Mon-Fri for the vast majority of your banking needs, at a counter run by the Post Office; and our community’s five most commonly used banks (including bringing back some banks already closed) will be there for more complex services and face-to-face appointments, offering a private room, one day each.”
According to TSB there was a 55% fall in the number of customer transactions in their Amble branch over the last four years.
Really bad news to hear TSB is closing in Amble I have always received good service and pleasant staff not good news for Amble
A promise which is a poor consolation. A post office lacks the ambience of a bank. A bank is a bank.
Wouldn’t it have been better to have a proper banking hub in a banking premises, even maybe the TSB itself and not rent out space in a post office.. Given its recent scandal, hardly a management we can trust.
Things cannot get any worse.
We need change and it isn’t Labour. Parliament has failed to protect our country from thousands entering illegally and deliberately destroying their identity.
Politicians refuse to acknowledge the connection between immigration, population explosion and housing and school shortages, the waiting times in NHS including A&E, in fact Broken and broke Britain.
Protecting our borders is the topmost responsibility of every single politician. it didn’t involve soldiers, they needed to revisit the Treaties signed, but were too inefficient and lazy. Every Treaty signed has to be put to a Referendum.
I hope that Reform Uk the chance to break this smug vicious two Party circle and turnaround the country as best it can.
