Public toilet upgrades scheduled for this winter
Following comments sent to the Ambler about the state of the public toilets in the town, most particularly those at the harbour, we asked NCC for an update on the refurbishment of the public toilets in Amble. Readers may remember in Issue 133 (p5) where we reported that the Council had approved improvement and refurbishment works across the county at their meeting in February 2022, which included public toilets in Amble Town Square and at the harbour.
A spokesperson for NCC said, “We are committed to improving toilet facilities in the county. Across Northumberland we are carrying out a £1.35m three-year programme of works to improve the standard of all of the 54 public toilets in the county for which we have responsibility.
“This includes Amble, and both facilities have been scheduled for refurbishment this winter to ensure access to public toilets is maintained during the busy summer visitor period.”
