Public consultation on Amble’s new school plans
Members of the public are invited to a Pre-Planning Consultation event on designs for the replacement school buildings for James Calvert Spence College, Amble First School and new SEND satellite provision for Barndale.
This is an opportunity for members of the local community, school staff, parents and carers to review the design proposals and provide feedback prior to the submission of the planning application for the redevelopment of the James Calvert Spence College site.
Visitors to the consultation will be able to comment and express their wishes for future community provision – ie sports facilities which might be provided as a result of the new designs.
It is proposed that the new school buildings will use innovative technologies to create a net zero carbon in operation school. As well as improving the teaching and learning environment for current and future pupils in the schools, improvements to the on-site sporting and community facilities will benefit the wider Amble community. The enhanced facilities include:
- A Floodlight 3G full size Football pitch
- A Multi Use Games Areas (MUGA)
- A series of football and rugby pitches
- An all-weather running track
The event will be held at James Calvert Spence College, Acklington Road, Amble, Northumberland, NE65 0NG on Wednesday 25 January.
Members of the public can attend from 5:30 – 7:30pm.
If you cannot attend on 25 January, you can visit the website at https://dppukltd.com/ambleschools from 25 January – 1 February to view the proposals and provide any comments.
Up to £40m has been agreed by Northumberland County Council to be spent on the school building development and upgrades to schools in the Coquet Partnership. The current three tier educational system will be changed to two tier, requiring expansion to Broomhill, Grange View, Red Row and Amble Links first schools. Amble First school will move into the current Middle school building on South Avenue, which will be significantly refurbished and include space for special needs provision, as Barndale School will expand.
