Sandy wins Gold again
Local preserves producer The Mad Jam Woman AKA Sandy Higson has (once again) found success at the Artisan Marmalade Awards, receiving two Gold Awards.
These were for her Dark Seville Orange Marmalade, and Lime marmalade with Mango Pineapple and Chilli. She also won one Bronze Award for Orange Marmalade with Herbs and Chilli, making her jars some of the best in the world!
Sandy also received commendations for her Blood Orange with Cardamom, Orange and Pineapple and the one she made specially for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Called ‘The Queen’s Tipple’ it is Lemon Marmalade with Dubonnet and Gin, this is believed to be one of the Queen’s favourite drinks.
Firm favourites, these preserves are particularly loved for their quality, and clearly the judges agreed! They were very impressed with the marmalade’s appearance, colour, consistency, aroma and flavour.
Sandy said “I’m really pleased to have won two Gold awards. I very nearly didn’t send one of the recipes in, but changed my mind at the last minute. I’m really glad I submitted it!”
Last year, Sandy won six awards at the same festival, taking home one gold, four silver and a commendation.
