Corona Diary: Day 41-44

Posted on 03rd May 2020 | in Blogs , Community , Corona Diary

The diary of a student who is no longer in school, following what this new virus means for us.

The past few days haven’t been quite as bad. Now that I’ve been given some work to do as preparation for A Levels, I’ve got back into a sort of routine, trying to include a few hours of school tasks as well as still doing the things I want to do.

I’ve been doing a lot of the work set for English literature especially, reading books that I usually wouldn’t think to read and looking at different interpretations of texts, but I’ve also started learning sign language too. Fitting this in with story writing, trying (and usually failing) to play the guitar and the other A Level subjects has been a lot, but they’re all fun things and are definitely keeping me busy.

There’s also been several book festivals recently which usually would happen in America, making them impossible for me to go and see, but instead have been put online. This means I’ve also spent the last few days watching some of my favourite authors answer questions and talk about their books- something good to come from lock down at least.

Our adventure run up near Hauxley.

Me and my sister went on an ‘Adventure Run’ today, an adventure run being where we do 50% walking and have no clue where we’re going. We ran up to Hauxley and down some little paths we’d never been on before, snacking on chocolate and jelly beans on the way.

It’s been good for me to have all these different things to do. I have to keep busy or I’ll probably go crazy, but for some people quarantine is all about not doing a lot and just trying to get through it, which is very important too. Sometimes you have to make sure there’s something to do, but other times it’s better just to relax and remember there’s no pressure to do anything at all.
