Life during lockdown starts to take shape
The few businesses in Queen Street that are open are getting used to their new routines. People are being asked to enter the shops usually one at a time, so queues along the street are now commonplace.

Farm Bakery
Most food shops will deliver, but understandably only on certain times/days. Jasmine Pentleton from the Farm Bakery told The Ambler: “We’re taking orders two days per week, so we’re asking for people to ring on Monday for a Tuesday delivery, and on Thursday for a Friday delivery.” They are offering a pack which includes 1 small white sliced loaf, 1 small wholemeal sliced loaf, 1pack of white buns, 1 pack of brown buns and 2 scones, all for £5.
Jamine praised their volunteer team who are helping to deliver the bread. “They’re lovely, I couldn’t believe how many people are prepared to help.” Ring their Alnwick branch to order: 01665 603333.
Trotters Bakery
Trotters Bakers are also happy to deliver, although they are down to two staff at the moment, so deliveries would have to be in the afternoon. Ring them 01665 710458.
Premier Convenience Store
Premier shop is not open, but they are offering a delivery service on 01665 710394. Queen Street, Amble
Herons and Tesco
Herons are allowing 5 customers in at a time, and Tescos too are asking customers to maintain the 2m distance, so queues were forming outside.
TSB
The longest queue was for the TSB. They are open on a Tuesday and Friday 10am-4pm, but closed for lunch 12.30-1.30pm. The Amble branch can be contacted directly on 01665 804999. The bank is only open for essentials – ie withdrawing or paying money in, not for paying bills or transactions which can be done online.
Boots and Cromies
The pharmacies were busy with the queue for Boots going down North St. Their phone number is 01665 710288

Cromies queue was much shorter and a pharmacist was able to bring prescriptions out to the customers. Ring them on 01665 710896
Coquet Medical Group
In a direct appeal on his twitter page, Dr Burville at Coquet Medical Group has asked their patients in the Amble, Warkworth, Hadston and Red Row areas to download Skype so the practice can conduct consultations via video.
