Congratulations!
… to Susan Nicholson who won our competition for a meal for four at the Amble Inn.
Susan told us “I’d forgotten all about it, so it was a big surprise! I’m over the moon! I’ve been before and it’s lovely. I’ll be taking my husband and I’ll have a think about who else!”
… to Alan Conway of Hauxley Dairy Farm who came in the top three in the Dairy Farmer of the year category, at the Northern Farmer of the year awards.
The awards ceremony was held at the Pavilion in Harrogate. Alan told The Ambler: “We were very pleased to have got so far on our first attempt. The winner deserved his award.”
The dairy farm is continuing its milk delivery business, started last year, and will be employing a new member of staff to allow them to expand the rounds north and south.
… to Amble’s Beauty Queen Kay Harding. She won Highly Commended in the Independent Beautician of the Year awards.
Kay’s salon won second place in her category: the North East, North West and Yorkshire region. The event was held by the English Hair and Beauty Awards at a prestigious hotel in Manchester. Kay said, “It was amazing. There were about 600 people there; there were 32 categories and ten finalists in each. I was more excited than nervous as I never expected to win. As Amble is so small I didn’t think I would have more votes than the other nine people.”
Kay said she was overwhelmed at the result and thanked her family, friends and clients for their support.
“To actually win an award was a very emotional and happy time for me and shows that my clients appreciate all my hard work and effort.”
… to football coach Josh Rutherford who won Most Inspirational Leader from the High Sheriff of Northumberland awards.
Josh said, “I didn’t see that coming but very proud and humbled to be chosen by the High Sheriff of Northumberland awards, as there are many inspiring groups and leaders across the county.”
