Signs point to major progress with hotel
Amble residents were positive about the hotel plans, which were put out to public consultation last year
Indications are that building works on Amble’s hotel will soon begin, and that leading leisure company The Inn Collection Group (ICG) is in talks to be the operator. A formal announcement is expected soon.
ICG’s property portfolio includes the extremely popular The Commissioners Quay Inn at Blyth and The Hogs Head Inn at Alnwick. They also own a number of pubs with rooms across the North East and North Yorkshire.
The Ambler understands that building will start on site in November 2017, with a completion date expected by October 2018.
Councillor Jeff Watson told The Ambler, “This is excellent news for Amble. Prior to this, no contract had been entered into and the date for completion had never been fixed. This much needed hotel will create essential new jobs and opportunities for local residents. The new development will be a major commitment by Northumberland County Council to the town.”

The £4m project is expected to create up to 60 jobs during the construction phase, and the equivalent of 30 full time jobs once the hotel opens.
The hotel, bar and restaurant will be situated on Coquet Enterprise Park, with access from Percy Drive.
The inn has been designed to include a mix of family, twin and accessible rooms, with a 150-seated restaurant and bar area, with a further 100 covers outside, on site car parking and cycle spaces.

Please could there be a dog friendly area.
Agree with earlier comment about dog friendly eating area being welcomed – there aren’t enough eating places that allow dogs in Amble. Amble’s pubs that don’t welcome dogs are missing out on loads of trade from both locals and tourists.
