After many months of discussion Amble Town Council have agreed to proceed with a CCTV system with Alnwick based company Alncom

The system utilises up to 32 cameras, and will cost in the region of £20k. It will be purchased by the Town Council and an agreement has been made with Northumbria Police to carry out surveillance from their base in Amble.
The CCTV system will provide coverage of the town centre and Paddlers Park.

There will be approximately 14 high definition cameras which will be wi-fi networked and can be added to in the future if required. Automatic Numberplate Recognition is also a feature on some of the cameras. The cameras will be regularly maintained and there is 24 hour access should a fault arise.

Amble Mayor Jane Dargue commented “We are absolutely delighted that our plans to have a network of CCTV cameras sited within the town have now reached fruition. Our aim was to ensure that we have in place the best CCTV system possible to help combat anti-social behaviour and to protect our town assets. We are very pleased to be working with Alncom on this project as a local company who we believe will deliver a high quality CCTV system that will serve the town well.”

Stephen Pinchen, Alncom Managing Director stated “As a local company who provide services to a number of clients in Amble, Alncom have a vested interest in the town so are delighted to be given the opportunity to provide the town’s new CCTV solution.

Where many towns are installing HD CCTV systems, Amble have gone a stage further and will benefit from 4K UHD, with images being four times the resolution of HD.

Using new recording technology with advanced video analytics, the system can deliver live imagery to remote CCTV operators and police hand held devices.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with a town council who have the vision to embrace new technology and the foresight to understand how to deliver value for money in a solution that should serve the town well for years to come.”

Inspector Liz Hall, Northumbria Police stated “Northumbria Police officers have worked with partners from the initial planning stages to ensure we all work together to secure the right locations to get maximum benefit from this system.
“Northumbria police officers will monitor this from the local Amble police station and use the footage to improve public safety and support prosecutions.

“This will not replace the face to face community engagement and presence of officers in the town centre, Amble police have an excellent level of support from the local community and this will give us an additional tool to keep Amble town centre a safe place to live, socialise and visit.”
