British Legion events August 2015
The 70th anniversary of VJ Day on 15 August 2015 commemorates Japan’s surrender to the Allies in WW2. Let us not forget those servicemen and women known as “the Forgotten Army” many who became Far East Prisoners of War and suffered so much for their country. We remember them in Warkworth and Amble on Remembrance Sunday every year.
Do you have a family member who was a prisoner of war in the Far East? We would like to hear from you with any information relating to their service. Please contact our Secretary on 07785 753100.
The branch meets every two months on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the Legion Room, Warkworth Memorial Hall. Visitors are most welcome. There is a speaker at every meeting with refreshments and a chance to meet local members. We raise money throughout the year to support the Poppy Appeal. You do not have to be ex service to be a member and you can attend as a visitor at our meetings to
find out more about what we do. Membership is only £16 per year
