Pet care tips from Coquet Vets: Easter dangers
The team at Coquet Vets are asking pet owners to watch out for some dangers to dogs and cats during the Easter period.

Mal the Staffie received treatment after eating chocolate. He made a full recovery
• The most obvious is Chocolate. Chocolate contains theobromine which is toxic to dogs. The darker the chocolate the more toxic to your pets.
• Raisins, sultanas, currants and grapes – they can all cause fatal kidney failure in dogs.
• Spring bulbs and plants – Certain plants can be poisonous to your dogs so be careful when they are digging up your garden. Hyacinths, daffodils, tulips are just a few that can make your dog poorly.
• Lilies in cats are VERY poisonous. All they have to do is lick a lily plant and they can go into kidney damage. If you have cats make sure you NEVER have lilies in your house or garden. It is not worth the risk.
If you think your pet has ingested any of these please call us immediately. Even if they have only eaten one raisin to do not risk it.
