Hauxley chapel to close at Easter
After over 130 years of serving its community, Hauxley Church has finally decided to cease worship in 2025.

Hauxley Church
Built initially as a reading room for the Low Hauxley fishermen in the 1880s, it became a church in the 1890s and has been central to Hauxley life ever since, containing memorials to residents lost in both wars and a remembrance book of local characters.
With the recent loss of community from second homes and an ageing dwindling congregation, it has sadly proved increasingly difficult to sustain the fellowship, and the final service will be held at 4pm on Easter Sunday, to be led by Rev. Ian Farnsworth.
