Exciting news for Shorebase Trust

Posted on 27th March 2025 | in Community , What's On

We have been awarded a £5,000 grant through the Community Foundation from the Pea Green Boat Fund to run free ‘Wet and Wild’ activity sessions for Year 3 and Year 4 pupils in Northumberland. The aim is to help children connect with nature, explore wild spaces, and enhance their well-being through outdoor activities.

Furthermore, we have secured another grant, also through the Community Foundation, from the Northsteads Windfarm, which has supported us on many occasions in recent years. This funding will allow us to offer free water sports sessions for primary schools, including canoeing kayaking, and paddle boarding, helping children build water confidence while having fun. So far, we have confirmed bookings from Broomhill, Redrow, and Grangeview primary schools for these sessions. We hope to have enough funding left to offer more sessions for Amble Youth Project and Hadston House Youth Club over the summer. There has also been interest from Collingwood Media College and Edwin Primary in Amble.

We hope to start both projects after Easter and are reaching out to schools now. To make things easier, we have also covered transport and packed lunches where needed, so no one misses out

Additionally, we now have a full itinerary of tours, experiences, and training courses for adults available to book on our website for the 2025 season. If anyone is interested, we’d be happy to share more details!
