Amble Food Bank update

Posted on 22nd August 2023 | in Community

Amble Food Bank would like to thank our local communities for their continued generosity. We continue to be amazed by the amount of food donations that come in. We really do appreciate EVERY SINGLE item donated! A huge thank you also for all financial donations that we receive. As well as food bins at Amble and Hadston Co-ops, there is now one located at Amble Tesco Express. We rely solely on food and money donations. Without these we simply could not operate. So, thank you. And thank you to these supermarkets for their support.

Thank you also to local businesses and charities that support our cause. Special thanks go to Alexa’s Canine Trust and to The Mad Jam Woman for their recent donations to AFB.

With inflation rising, we are now paying almost double for the paper bags that we use for food parcels. This is costing us almost £2000 a year on bags alone. If you have any spare paper shopping bags (the ones that hold a lot of weight), please drop these off in the Morrison’s cage or in the Co-op and Tesco food bins. Thank you.

With the increase in referrals to AFB, we now have to carry out regular large food shops. Should you wish to make a financial donation to help with this, cash or a cheque can be addressed to us and posted through the letter box at Trinity Methodist Church. Or you can do a bank transfer via: Amble Food Bank, sort code 77-20-04, account number 17925260. We are registered with HMRC, so if you pay tax you can Gift Aid any donations (email us for a form). We also have collection tins at the Co-op, The Farm bakery and The Boat Shed Gallery at Amble Harbour Village.

If you are in need, you can get a referral through an agency such as CAB or your Health Visitor. Or contact Northumberland Communities Together on 01670 620015, 9-6pm.
Any general enquiries may be emailed to amblefb@gmail.com.
Many thanks again for your ongoing support.
