Mayor visits schools for coronation
Mayor Craig Weir visited Amble schools to help commemorate the coronation of King Charles III.
The mayor visited James Calvert Spence College to award the winners of a poem and crown contest the students have been working on. The winners were handed chocolate and a personal congratulations from the mayor himself.
The mayor has also kindly given all of our students a mug to mark the coronation. He feels this is important to commemorate the coronation of the new King.
He said, “I was there for Queen Elizabeth II Coronation all those years ago and it was a great honour to get a commemorative mug. I’ve kept that with me all these years. I’m sure in the years to come, the children will do the same with their mugs.”
“It’s been a great pleasure to visit schools around Amble. I’ve enjoyed some comments from the children believing I was Charles or his brother.”
This was a very exciting day for James Calvert Spence College. We are grateful to the mayor for coming in and for making this a coronation the students will always remember.
