A fond farewell to a friend
We were greatly saddened to hear of the death of Tim Jones, a longtime friend and contributor to The Ambler.
Tim joined the Ambler team over 15 years ago, after retiring from his professional journalism career.
“He always encouraged us to show both sides of the story,” said Ambler team member Norma Hinson. “He was always very diplomatic, he didn’t like to upset anyone.”
“He was always so encouraging and interested in everyone. He was a kind and gentle man, he always looked to people’s better side, but he was also a realist,” said The Ambler’s editor Anna Williams.
Tim loved the Northumbrian landscape and its people. He was an active church member and community volunteer, and was a board member of Amble Development Trust.
Vice Chair of Amble Development Trust Andy Sim said: “We will miss Tim, he was a well respected, thoughtful and positive member of the Trust’s management committee, and we send our condolences to his family.”
Tim leaves a wife Rachel, and daughters Lucy and Tamsin. He had three grandchildren and one granddog.
The funeral will take place at 2pm on 9 October at St Cuthbert’s Church, Amble.
