She Wins All the Races, performed by Shelley O’Brien

We are pleased to be bringing some more high quality professional entertainment to Amble this year in collaboration with Highlights Rural Touring Scheme.

Our first show is a compelling piece of theatre from Consett based, Mad Alice Theatre, that tells of a little girl growing up with the certainty of loss.

Set in the 1970s this new one-woman show is about an intelligent happy little girl Belinda, who loves life, her two brothers and stealing the Priest’s biscuits with her best friend Angela. But her brothers are not walking properly and when she opens ‘the drawer she must never open’ her world is cataclysmically blown apart…

Based on the performer’s experience of growing up with two brothers born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, this moving, heartening and fun show is a celebration of the courage and resilience of the human spirit.

A tragicomedy with biscuits – told with quirky storytelling, projections, music and a little bit of Abba!
She Wins All the Races is performed by Shelley O’Brien and was created in association with Queen’s Hall Arts Hexham and Action Transport Theatre Cheshire. It is touring with Highlights Rural Touring Scheme as part of its spring season of shows touring to small, rural communities.

The play will be performed on Saturday 18th March at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall, Dovecote Street, Amble, NE65 0DX. Tickets are £8 for adults, £7 for concessions and £5 for children (under 15), and will be available from N & F Young, Amble.
