yellow-greenpeace-boatAmble will see a visit from a very special yellow fishing boat on Saturday, and members of the public are encouraged to come along for a family friendly quayside event and to show support for local fishermen.

Nutfa (New Under Ten Fishermen’s Organisation), who represent many small scale fishermen in England and Wales, supported by Greenpeace, are touring a small yellow fishing boat around England and Wales to get support for sustainable fishermen and healthy seas in the run up to the general election.

Greenpeace has been working in alliance with Nutfa and individual fishermen across the coast for the last 3 years, campaigning for fair fishing laws in Europe and the UK.

They are calling on all the local politicians in this area to be a ‘coastal champion’ and show that they support sustainable fishermen and protection of our seas.

The family friendly events on the quayside, or an indoor location if its raining will run from 11am to 1.30pm and will involve:

  • freebies, face painting, paper crafts, fishy games, a photography exhibition and, where possible, trips on the boat.
  • Local politicians will be shown the bunting that has been signed by the public and invited to sign their regional flag to show that they are a ‘coastal champion.’

If the boat is moored nearby, the flag will be raised on it at the end of the event.
