Gemma hands over cheque to Alzheimer’s Society
Amble fundraiser Gemma Little, has raised the magnificent sum of £6025 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Gemma (on the right) is pictured together with Rebecca Scott (centre) from The Alzheimer’s Society and Lynda Hardy (left), who helped Gemma run the fundraising events.
Gemma’s mother Anne, was 54 when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, when Gemma was only 11. Anne died ten years later. Since then Gemma has poured her efforts into fundraising for the disease.
She told The Ambler about her recent events:
“I organised a charity walk from Craster to Amble in August about 14 mile along the coastal path. 41 people and 4 dogs completed the walk. Then we had a charity night in October at the Bede Street Club with ‘The Britpop Union’ who played for free for the charity.”
Many businesses donated prizes and Amble Alzheimer’s campaigner Barbara Dow (who featured in the last Ambler) paid for the DJ.
“I did a little hamper for the TSB bank who sold tickets to win it and Alnwick Fire Station did a car wash which I attended and they split the funds raised between themselves and the Alzheimer’s Society,” said Gemma.
