JCSC-Callum-MatthewTwo JCSC engineering students, Callum Gray and Matthew Stephenson, (Matthew is a Duchess School student who attends JCSC two days a week to study engineering) are delighted to have been accepted onto the Rolls Royce September 2014 apprenticeship scheme.
Rolls Royce were impressed by their willingness and commitment to travel to Newcastle every day and by the quality of their work. They had to undergo an entrance exam and interview before being selected from over 600 candidates. Three of the JCSC engineering students applied and all three were invited to interview but one was unable to attend.
“I am absolutely delighted for them”’ said engineering teacher Brad Logan, “We have been working very hard not only on their work but on their interview skills and as only 10% of students who apply are successful they should be very proud of themselves. Previous JCSC students who completed the apprenticeship programme have gone on to enjoy successful careers in engineering and so this is just the beginning for them.”
