WEEK 1

Saturday May 18th

From 2pm  Opening Ceremony in Town Square

“Arrival of the Pufflings” dance and song by youngsters from Busy Bees, Edwin Street, St Cuthbert’s and Middle School. Choreography by Virginia Kennedy, Joanne Burn & Emma Dunn. Music by Sandra Kerr.

Busy Bees story & craft sessions at Amble Library

10 -11.30am Rainbow Pottery painting workshops (Adults) at 42 Queen Street. puffin themed workshop – create a plate or beaker of your own design – no need for artistic talent, simple techniques will be shared. 7.30 – 9.30pm Harbour Lights Choir will hold an open Party and sing night at St Cuthburt’s Church Hall. Admission free. Come and listen and join in.

puffin-with-lunchFriday 24th May

Starts 1pm from Amble TIC. Guided walk: Nordic walking for beginners with Jon Monks/Shepherd’s Walks. . This walk is perfect for those people new to Nordic Walking and for those who want to take it easy or perfect their technique. It is a nice and gentle form of exercise, for all levels of fitness. The session will begin with our fully qualified Nordic Walking trainer taking you through the basics of Nordic Walking. You will then have plenty of time to put your new skills into practise as you are guided around on a short Nordic Walk (maximum 3 miles). This is a very informal group and is a great introduction into Nordic Walking. We will loan you Nordic Walking poles at no cost. Free event.

Leaves from Amble TIC 2pm. Afternoon guided nature walk (Parts of the Town Trail) with Athol Swanston. Free event

2pm Musical entertainment for older people. Tea and cake! At Trinity Methodist Church Visitors welcome. Free event

Slater’s Funfair on the Little Shore 18 – 26 May & 31 May – 2 June

Puffin and Puffling Paddles.    Kayaking/canoeing bird trips. Explore the Coquet estuary or paddle out to Coquet Island and get up close to the bird life.  All equipment provided.   Trips to the Island are weather dependent and previous experience is necessary, but the estuary is suitable for novices. Contact Hilary or Vic at Coquet Shorebase Trust 01665 710367 for bookings and prices.
