British Legion needs poppy collectors

Posted on 14th August 2012 | in Clubs + Societies , Community

Collectors are wanted in Amble and Warkworth for the annual Poppy Appeal in October and November. Volunteers are vital to the organisation. To date the British Legion has helped over 16,000 Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. Over the next 10 years they will be helping seriously injured young men and women returning from duty in the country’s personnel recovery centres. The British Legion also stands up for the welfare of serving and ex-service men and women of all generations and all conflicts. As a poppy collector you are helping us do all this essential work for our brave heroes. You do not need to be a Legion member.

If you would like to help please contact June Watson on 07785 753100 to register as a collector. Even if you can only do one street that’s fine it all helps.

Why not be a member of the British Legion and join us at our bi-monthly meetings and talks at the Legion Room, Warkworth Memorial Hall, on Thursday evenings at 7pm.  Tel June at 07785 753100 for dates of our meetings, or see www.warkworth.co.uk/britishlegion.
