Through the Lens 2012: Exhibition
The final date for entries is past, so we hope you have all got your photos handed in, and that we have as many entries as last year, producing another fascinating exhibition. The judges are now choosing winners from each class and category. Brian Flanighan is judging the category of “Amble and Hauxley in all weathers” and Joan Vickers is judging “Sports and hobbies”.
The exhibition of all photos will be in the Parish Hall, Dovecote Street over the May Bank Holiday. Please come along to see the display on Saturday 5 May, 2pm till 4pm, Sunday 6 May, 11am till 3pm and Monday 7 May, 11am till 3pm. The prizes will be awarded at 2pm on Monday afternoon. We are grateful to the Co-op Funeral Service for their sponsorship of the schools’ portfolio prize, Nickalls and Company, the Queen Street Post Office for cash donations, and Raggy Dolls for a raffle prize. Others have been promised. Cash prizes will be awarded to each age group in both categories.
You, as a member of the public, can also judge a winning photo. A People’s Prize will be awarded, as it proved popular last year, and Amble Photographic Group has donated a trophy to the photographer of the winning photo, chosen by the visitors to the exhibition.
Refreshments will be served by members of St. Cuthbert’s Church, who will serve tea, coffee, scones, and possibly cakes.
Nigel Lowder, who has judged the two previous competitions, will be displaying some of his photos, as will members of the Amble Photographic Group. See you there.
