Agnes collects record amount
Poppy Collector Agnes McIntyre has collected over £500 for this year’s Royal British Legion appeal.
“It’s the most I’ve ever collected ” she told The Ambler, “I collect around the Gloster Park Estates. I’ve been collecting for about 36 years. When I first started, I think people thought of the appeal as being for the First and Second World Wars. But now I think – especially the young people – they see it for all the wars, including the wars now. ”
Agnes’ charitable deeds have not gone unnoticed by her neighbours, “One man even gave me a box of chocolates! He said ‘You deserve it’ but really I think thanks should go to the people of Amble who have been so generous this year.”
