FC Amble 0 Cramlington Juniors 3
FC Amble’s good run of form came to an end after an under par second half performance cost them dearly bringing an end to a six game unbeaten run .
FC Amble started much the brighter of the two teams and fashioned the first opening after just 2 minutes when they were awarded a penalty kick. D Handyside powered a shot straight down the middle of the goal at the Cramlington keeper . Not put off they continued to press and J Ford had a good shot saved soon after. Amble were on the front foot but their attacking play saw them a bit exposed at the back. However they had keeper T Hall to thank for keeping the Cramlington team out and going in to half time level at 0-0 .
Amble then lost their shape during the 2nd half but almost went ahead with K Goodwin bravely heading just wide from J Ford’s corner . The deadlock was finally broken after 40 minutes when a lack of communication once again proved costly for the seasiders allowing the Cramlington striker to sweep home the ball for a 1- 0 lead . With 5 minutes left Amble pushed forward for an equaliser but were caught on the break from a corner of their own which left poor M Kerr wondering which of the 4 attackers to pick up with his midfield 30 yards down the pitch allowing Cramlington to extend their lead to 2- 0 . Cramlington added a 3rd just before full time to leave with all 3 points .
A harsh lesson was learned by the Amble youngsters who probably deserved something from the game but failed to convert their chances and saw themselves punished by some clinical finishing from the away team .
