The Giving Machine
James Calvert Spence is the latest school to sign up to the online fundraising portal TheGivingMachine™. The school hopes to raise much needed income to support its education and develop facilities through the innovative online shopping scheme developed by four dads in Bishop’s Stortford.
A member of the Institute of Fundraising, TheGivingMachine™ taps into the multi-billion pound online retail market by providing a website for shoppers to buy from over 300 leading retailers. Every time you shop online via TheGivingMachine, a percentage of the sale is turned into a donation on behalf of the shopper and given to their chosen UK school and/or charity – at no cost to you. The not-for-profit scheme launched nationally in 2007 is already raising regular income for over 3,000 charities and schools across the UK.
Executive Headteacher, Christine Graham, said ‘the college is constantly in need of extra funds and this is even more important under the current financial climate. TheGivingMachine can provide us with another source of income, without any cost to our supporters. It is not often we get anything for free! We are all now doing so much shopping online. If just 100 of our supporters shopped via TheGivingMachine, we could raise well over £1,000 a year extra.’
