End of year party night

Harbour Lights, Amble’s Community Choir, celebrated the end of their first year with a party night. They invited friends and family along to the Parish Hall and put on an impromptu performance to show the type of music they sing and the manner in which it is practised. It was a fun night, enjoyed by all.
The choir has been supported by 20, 000 Voices over the past year, but are now being encouraged to become self funding. They shared the good news of sponsorship from Heatherdale Care Home in Broomhill with their guests. The choir had been to the home to sing with the residents and both choir and residents had thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Singing with the elderly is in keeping with the community ethos of both the choir and the care home, so it is a win win situation.
Judy Baird from Warkworth, a member of the choir was chosen to sing in the film ‘Song for Marion’ which is being shot in the Tyneside area.
After a break for the summer holidays the choir will come together again in the Parish Hall on 22nd September, all welcome, no previous experience necessary.

Walk your way to health

An effective form of exercise that most people can do is walking. This has been recognised by Homes for Northumberland, who have teamed up with Natural England to offer accredited health walks for tenants and their friends.
The walks will take place every Tuesday morning at 10.00am and will initially start from the Community Room in Kennedy Road on Tuesday 2nd August 2011.
The walks are flat level strolls, at an easy pace, around Amble, each no more than an hour.  A chance to gently improve your fitness, an opportunity to socialise and meet new friends.
Led by Homes for Northumberland staff, who can answer questions about tenancies or local neighbourhood. The walks will end with light refreshments and a chat.
For further information please contact Simon Crosthwaite, Resident Involvement Officer, Homes for Northumberland on 01665 511271 or email simon.crosthwaite@hfn.uk.com.
