Pirates, Vikings and Links First School

Posted on 10th June 2011 | in Amble Links First School

The children at Amble Links First School recently took part in two different themed days based around the topics they have been working on.

On their Pirate Day, the Key Stage 1 children came to school as Pirates and took part in a treasure hunt, decorated pirate cakes and played pirate games.

During this topic the children have written  stories and created information texts about pirates. Ask our KS1 children anything about pirates and you’re sure to get a very detailed answer.

Key Stage 2’s topic about Vikings ended in a fantastic day when the children dressed as Vikings, took part in drama activities, including a Viking burial, jewellery making and a treasure hunt.

The Easter Holiday saw a makeover of our school hall.  It now looks brighter and bigger. A very special ‘Thank You’ to Alan Bell of AB Decorators for the time he gave up to help us with the painting.

We were also lucky to receive a huge log for our Foundation Stage outdoor area from Northumberland Estates.  The children are being very creative with it.  It has been a ship and an aeroplane and they have worked out that the tree was approximately 106 years old. We’re looking for a large drill to put some holes through our log next!

We’d like to say a special thank you to Clint Johnson and Neville Henderson at Northumberland Estates for supplying the log and to Chris Lang and L&A Reinforcements for helping get the log to school.
