Accreditation clinch for training firm

An Amble training provider has won a top accreditation from the world’s biggest professional health and safety organisation. Premier Corporate Training (PCT) based in Fourways 2 is now one of the few trainers in the North East to be approved by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), which has more than 38,000 members across the globe.

PCT managing director, Bruce Durham, says there are major benefits for businesses that receive their training from companies with the IOSH accreditation.

“As well as giving the course more credibility, having IOSH gives employers more legal cover should an accident happen,” he said.  “We plan our courses thoroughly by working closely with the HSE and also via consultations with insurance providers and our academic safety partner – Professor Patrick Tissington at Aston University.

PCT, which works across the UK with clients including Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions, Amec and Shell and provides training locally for the Post Office and Zecca, went through the rigorous process to earn IOSH accreditation for its Manual Handling, Working Safely, Managing Safely and Risk Assessment courses.

“We want people to realise that health and safety training doesn’t have to be drab and dull – we want to make it accessible and fun, and generate some enthusiasm as well as teaching practical skills,” said Mr Durham.
